Gene Williams: First, you should know that I'm not the Gene Williams who was a country singer in Branson, Missouri, nor am I the guy who used to sing with the Platters -- no. I am Gene Williams of Santa Monica, California. I'm just a guy who's played guitar for a long time and knows a lot of songs. And I know some pretty good ones too. I've spent thousands of hours performing in bars, churches, coffee house, music festivals, corporate parties, the street -- you name it. I've played in a lot of blues, rock and country bands, the sort of stuff people now call Americana. I get hired a lot to play in cajun and zydeco bands. Lately I've been getting back to my solo acoustic roots -- the sort of stuff I learned to play as a kid. I really love old folk ballads and Southern gospel music. And I'm also writing and recording my own stuff. I am not the fanciest guitar player in the world, nor do I want to be. My music is simple and honest. In music and in life the important thing is getting the simple stuff right,
